What should you do if you can’t pair your Honor Band 3 with your phone? Yes, fitness tracker disconnect issues are quite common. In this article, I will discuss how to restore the connection using various methods, from the simplest to the most complex. Hopefully, the last method will only be necessary if the connection cannot be restored by simple means.

Reasons for Honor Band 3 Disconnects

There can be many reasons. For example, changing the theme once caused such an error, and only returning to the original theme solved it. Another time, the reason was unclear; I went a day without the tracker and then simply couldn’t reconnect.

Overall, finding the reason is much harder than solving the problem, so I didn’t bother with it and moved directly to solving the issue.

Restoring the Functionality of Honor Band 3

So, let’s go from simple to complex. Actually, the simplest solution is to restart the device. Have you tried it? Didn’t it help? That’s unfortunate. Then, let’s move on to other solutions. I will describe three methods that can help solve the problem:

  1. Undoing recent actions or returning to the original state.
  2. Resetting the fitness tracker’s settings.
  3. The previous method, plus a little extra effort.

I won’t beat around the bush; it’s time to fix the Honor Band 3 Bluetooth connection error.

Option 1

First, recall what manipulations were performed with the device:

  • Changing the theme;
  • Installing new apps;
  • Updates;
  • Connecting new devices.

Reverse all actions taken before the error occurred, uninstall apps, disconnect other devices, and restart your smartphone. Did it help? Good. If not, we move on. By the way, if the problem arose from an update, rolling it back might not be possible.

Leaving the device reset to its original state for later, but just in case, I’ll explain how to do it:

  1. Open “Settings”.
  2. Scroll down and go to the “System” tab.
  3. Go to the “Reset” tab.
  4. Select “Reset phone”.
  5. Done.

This will delete all settings on the smartphone back to its original state, so if you decide on this step, make sure to back up everything and remove the SD card.

Full smartphone reset

Option 2

More lenient than a full reset of the smartphone settings. Here are the steps to follow:

Resetting the Bluetooth settings of Honor Band 3
The photo says “Reboot”.
  1. Tap twice on the screen with your finger, wait a second, then tap twice again. Specifically on the screen. Personally, I tap it firmly. It may not work immediately, so don’t despair.
  2. In the menu that appears, you will see the words “Regulatory”, some number, and “Reboot”. Press on it, then the phrase “Reset settings” appears, hold down the control sensor. The device will reboot.
  3. The message “Download Huawei”, “Health to pair device”, “select: Honor Band 3-749” appears. Your number “749” may vary.
  4. Restart your smartphone. Wait for it to boot, turn on Bluetooth, go to the “Health” app and press the “+” in the upper right corner of the display if the fitness tracker is not detected automatically.
  5. Select “Smart band”, choose the Honor Band 3 model and press the “Pair” button.
  6. Follow the instructions. A notification like this should appear on the fitness tracker. Press the touch panel under the tracker’s screen. No need to hold, just a short press.
Connection notification on Honor Band 3

If everything goes successfully, your phone will notify you of the pairing. If not, you will see this notification:

Notification of pairing failure with Honor Band 3
Honor Band 3 pairing error

If the problem is not resolved, the Bluetooth connection failure with the smartphone still occurs. We move on to more desperate measures.

Option 3

We have completed the previous steps, but nothing has worked. In that case, proceed as follows:

  • Go to the settings of the “Health” app;
  • Clear the cache.

Path: lower tab “Me” → Settings → Clear cache.

Resetting Huawei Health settings

Repeat the manipulations. If pairing still fails and the screen still displays “Download Huawei Health to pair device”, “select: Honor Band 3-749”, then it’s time for the heavy artillery.

Go to “Settings” → “Applications” → “Health” and perform a cache clear and settings reset. Then, uninstall the app from your smartphone.

Restart your smartphone and reinstall the software, then attempt to pair the device again. This should resolve the issue. If it does not help for some reason, I am unable to provide further advice.

If Nothing Works

If the Bluetooth connection between the Honor Band 3 and your smartphone still does not work, it might be best to replace the fitness tracker with a new one, as this model is quite outdated. As a last resort, try connecting it to another device, then reset the settings and try to connect it to your own smartphone again.

I hope these instructions have been helpful. Good luck!
